Proudly serving Atlanta and the surrounding communities

Plumber in Stone Mountain, GA

We provide reliable plumbing services in Stone Mountain, GA, helping homeowners fix leaks, clogs, and repairs quickly and efficiently.

Stone Mountain sits in eastern DeKalb County at the base of the 825-foot granite monadnock that gives the city its name. The city proper covers about 1.7 square miles with roughly 6,700 residents, but the broader Stone Mountain postal area stretches across DeKalb and into Gwinnett County with ZIP codes 30083, 30086, 30087, and 30088. That wider area includes tens of thousands of homes built from the 1950s through the 2000s. Our office near Chamblee Tucker Road is only about 10 miles west, which means our plumbers reach Stone Mountain faster than almost any other community we serve.

The housing tells you what kind of plumbing problems to expect. Stone Mountain Village has homes dating back to the 1870s. South of the village, subdivisions from the 1970s through the 1990s line Memorial Drive, Redan Road, and Rockbridge Road. North of the mountain, Smoke Rise features custom estates built in the 1960s on large wooded lots. Each era used different pipe materials, and each material fails in its own way.

Plumbing Express has served Metro Atlanta since 2007 with over 35 years of combined experience. Our 4.9-star rating backed by 1,999+ reviews tells you what your DeKalb County neighbors already know: we do the job right and stand behind every repair.

Plumbing Problems Common in Stone Mountain Homes

Stone Mountain’s housing covers ZIP codes 30083, 30086, 30087, and 30088. Each area has a different housing profile and different plumbing risks. Here is what our plumbers find most often.

Polybutylene pipe failures

This is the most common issue we encounter in Stone Mountain. Homes built between 1978 and 1995, which includes a large share of the subdivisions along Memorial Drive, Redan Road, and throughout the 30083 and 30087 ZIP codes, were plumbed with polybutylene water lines. This gray plastic pipe reacts with chlorine in DeKalb County’s treated water and degrades from the inside. Pinhole leaks, cracked fittings, and burst pipes are the result. A full home repipe is the only permanent fix. We specialize in polybutylene replacement and finish most homes in two to three days.

Galvanized steel pipe corrosion

Stone Mountain Village homes built before the 1960s were plumbed with galvanized steel water lines. The 1960s ranch homes and split-levels in Smoke Rise used galvanized as well. After 60-plus years, internal corrosion narrows the pipe, drops water pressure to a trickle, and sends rusty brown water to the tap. DeKalb County’s own Lead and Copper Rule program confirms that older galvanized service lines can leach contaminants as they corrode. A full repipe with PEX-A piping restores clean water and strong pressure.

Cast iron drain line deterioration

Homes built in the 1960s and 1970s across the Stone Mountain area were plumbed with cast iron sewer and drain pipes. After 50 to 60 years, these pipes corrode, develop cracks, and attract root intrusion from mature pines and hardwoods on DeKalb County lots. Signs include slow drains, gurgling toilets, and sewage odors near cleanouts. We inspect these lines with a sewer camera and recommend repair or full sewer line replacement based on what we find.

Slab leaks

Ranch-style homes on concrete slab foundations are common across Stone Mountain’s subdivisions. Water lines beneath the slab develop leaks from red clay soil movement, pipe corrosion, or friction against the concrete. Warning signs include warm spots on floors, running water sounds with all fixtures off, and a sudden jump in your water bill. Our slab leak detection service pinpoints the exact location without tearing up your floors.

Tree root intrusion

Stone Mountain’s established neighborhoods sit under a thick canopy of oaks, pines, and hardwoods. Root systems seek moisture in sewer lines, entering through cracks or loosened joints and growing until they block the pipe. We clear roots with hydrojetting and use a camera to verify the line is clear. When the pipe is beyond repair, we handle sewer drain replacement.

Water heater failures

Tank water heaters in DeKalb County homes typically last 8 to 12 years. Mineral content in the water supply accelerates sediment buildup, which reduces efficiency and shortens the tank’s lifespan. When your unit starts leaking or producing lukewarm water, we install both tank water heaters and tankless systems sized for your household.

Plumbing Services We Provide in Stone Mountain

One call covers every plumbing need in your home.

Repairs and Installations

A slow kitchen drain or a toilet that backs up after rain points to a deeper blockage. Our drain cleaning team goes beyond basic snaking. We use hydrojetting to scour pipe walls and a camera to confirm the line is clear. For damaged lines, we handle full sewer drain replacement. Emergency drain service runs 24/7.

Repiping is our specialty. We remove failing polybutylene, galvanized, or aging copper systems and replace them with PEX-A or CPVC. Our repipe process is turn-key: new pipes installed, drywall patched, and computer-matched paint applied. Most Stone Mountain homes are finished in two to three days. Every repipe includes a 30-year warranty on materials. Request your free repipe quote to get started.

We install and repair both tank water heaters and tankless systems. Whether your tank is leaking or you want to upgrade to a tankless unit, our plumbers size the system to your household and complete the work the same day. We recommend annual water heater maintenance to extend the unit’s lifespan.

Gas line installation and gas line repair for stoves, dryers, fireplaces, outdoor grills, and gas water heaters. All gas work meets DeKalb County code and passes inspection.

Plumbing Express was great. I had a failed sump pump that had partially overflowed into the basement. Nasty. Josh was the tech that did the work. He was efficient, neat and courteous. I will use Plumbing Express if I have any other plumbing needs and I will recommend them to my family and friends.

Ron was our second plumber from this company. The first plumber came, examined pipes and said he found no leak, even though we had experiences a large amount of water leaking from the ceiling in the finished basement. Several days later we had another leak-same area but less water the second time. Ron came in, listened to our frustration and did a more thorough inspection of the pipes and identified the problem. He was very personable and professional. On his third visit, we had several replacement pipes installed and are without leaks again. Our frustration, with the situation, was my son had used your company to replace pipes when he purchased the home and founding out not all the pipes were included with that process.

Called Plumbing Express as tankless hot water not operating. Their website states "Get Free Plumbing Quote ". When service man showed up an looked at unit he said there would be a $207 charge to look into unit in order to give me a quote to fix unit. Due to not having hot water and time required to get another company to address the problem I agreed to pay $207 for quote. After looking in unit I was told he would not be able to fix due to age of unit and parts not available. I think he should have said parts not available when seeing model number on front of unit and I would not have wasted $207.

Plumbing Express is my go-to plumbing support team. They have fair pricing, well-vetted technicians, and a truly exceptional scheduling system. Rod, my technician, was the best. He quickly assessed the problem and gave a fair estimate, working hard to keep to the schedule. He even brought Josh along on the day of service, and the two of them worked well together. They addressed the bathtub drain repair with expertise and caused the least sheetrock damage. It was difficult to replace the broken pipe and get to the upstairs drain, but together they made it a success.

Dylan from Plumbing Express came over and replaced our garbage disposal for us. It was older, had a massive leak, and needed to be replaced. He did a great job and was in and out in about 30 minutes! I also asked him to check out a potential leak I had been hearing in my ceiling. He used a thermal camera to investigate and was very honest and upfront about what he found. Rather than immediately cutting into the drywall to confirm something uncertain, he explained that the sound could simply be pipes expanding and that opening the wall might be unnecessary. He recommended monitoring the area and waiting to see if a wet spot appears, which would clearly indicate an actual leak. I really appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell or push unnecessary work. Overall, great service and a great guy. They will definitely be our go-to plumbing service from now on.

Once again we had some problems under our kitchen sink so we called Plumbing Express who were able to get us on their schedule pretty quickly after these storms Tim Robinson came out to do the job. Tim has been to our house for a number of different plumbing problems. He is personable & professional. As usual he did a great job even though this particular problem turned out to be far more difficult than anyone had expected. As frustrating as it was, Tim worked through it until he finished the job. We can't thank him enough.

Frequently Asked Questions About Plumbing Services in Stone Mountain

What should I do if a pipe bursts?

Shut off the main water valve right away. This stops water flow and limits damage. Then call a licensed plumber. Our team can often respond the same day to repair or replace the damaged section.

How do I know if I have a hidden water leak?

Watch for higher-than-normal water bills, damp spots on walls, musty odors, or the sound of running water when no fixtures are on. Our plumbers use professional leak detection equipment to locate the problem without unnecessary demolition.

Why is my water pressure low?

Common causes include corroded pipes, a faulty pressure regulator, or a partially closed shut-off valve. In older Stone Mountain homes with galvanized or polybutylene piping, mineral buildup inside the pipes restricts flow over time.

How often should I service my water heater?

Tank water heaters benefit from a flush and inspection once a year. This removes sediment that reduces heating efficiency and shortens the unit’s lifespan. Tankless systems should be descaled annually, especially in areas with hard water.

How much do plumbing repairs cost?

Every job is different. The cost depends on the type of repair, the parts involved, and how long the work takes. Contact our team at (678) 439-9540 for an exact quote before any work begins.
