Urgent Water Leak in Metro Atlanta? We Prioritize Same-Day Service.

If you have an active leak, the first step is turning off your water. Instructions are in the section below. Then call us. Urgent calls are triaged and moved to the front of the schedule during business hours.

The First Thing to Do Right Now

Stop the water first. Every minute an active leak runs adds to the water damage. Here is how to shut it off.

Locate your main shutoff valve

In most Metro Atlanta homes, the main shutoff is either near the water heater, in a utility closet, or in a crawlspace near where the main line enters the house. It may also be at the meter box at the street. Turn it clockwise until it stops. Water flow to the whole house will stop.

Call (678) 439-9540

Tell us what you’re seeing. We triage active leak calls and prioritize dispatch for the same business day based on severity and current schedule.

Document the damage

Take photos and video of the leak source, any water damage, and affected areas. This documentation supports insurance claims and helps your adjuster understand what happened.

Calling after hours? We answer calls outside business hours and can help you locate your shutoff valve and stabilize the situation over the phone. On-site service begins when we open the next business day. If you’re unsure where your shutoff is, call us — we’ll walk you through it.

How We Handle Urgent Leak Calls

We operate during regular business hours. When you call with an active or worsening leak, we flag it as urgent and work to get a plumber to you the same day.

Triage means we assess severity over the phone before scheduling. An active leak with water intrusion gets ahead of routine service calls. We’ll give you an honest arrival window when you call so you know what to expect.

We do not promise a specific dispatch time we cannot guarantee. What we do promise is that urgent calls are handled differently than routine ones.

What We Handle on Urgent Calls

Plumbing Express responds to active supply-side water leaks across Metro Atlanta:

  • Burst or split supply pipes (copper, PEX, CPVC, galvanized)

  • Active pinhole leaks inside walls or ceilings causing water damage

  • Slab leaks with active water intrusion at the foundation or floor level

  • Underground main line breaks causing significant water loss or yard flooding

  • Supply line failures at water heaters, fixtures, or appliances

Outside our scope: Sewage and sewer backups are a different service. If you have sewage coming up through drains or backing up into fixtures, visit our sewer line repair page for the right contact.

While You Wait

If you have shut off the main water supply and are waiting for our arrival, a few steps will help limit damage.

  • Move rugs, furniture, and valuables away from the affected area

  • Place towels or buckets to catch any remaining drip from pipes that have not fully drained

  • If water has reached electrical outlets, panels, or fixtures, do not touch them and keep the area clear

  • Continue documenting with photos — additional angles and timestamps help with insurance

We will assess the damage, locate the source if it is not yet identified, and walk you through repair options before any work begins.

Insurance and Documentation

We provide a written report after every job documenting the leak source, the damage scope, and the repair performed. This report is useful for homeowner’s insurance claims and helps your adjuster understand the full picture.

If you plan to file a claim, notify your insurer before repair work begins when possible. Many policies require documentation of the original damage, and some require pre-approval before certain repairs. We can work around insurance timelines where the leak has been stabilized.

Plumbing Express was great. I had a failed sump pump that had partially overflowed into the basement. Nasty. Josh was the tech that did the work. He was efficient, neat and courteous. I will use Plumbing Express if I have any other plumbing needs and I will recommend them to my family and friends.

Ron was our second plumber from this company. The first plumber came, examined pipes and said he found no leak, even though we had experiences a large amount of water leaking from the ceiling in the finished basement. Several days later we had another leak-same area but less water the second time. Ron came in, listened to our frustration and did a more thorough inspection of the pipes and identified the problem. He was very personable and professional. On his third visit, we had several replacement pipes installed and are without leaks again. Our frustration, with the situation, was my son had used your company to replace pipes when he purchased the home and founding out not all the pipes were included with that process.

Called Plumbing Express as tankless hot water not operating. Their website states "Get Free Plumbing Quote ". When service man showed up an looked at unit he said there would be a $207 charge to look into unit in order to give me a quote to fix unit. Due to not having hot water and time required to get another company to address the problem I agreed to pay $207 for quote. After looking in unit I was told he would not be able to fix due to age of unit and parts not available. I think he should have said parts not available when seeing model number on front of unit and I would not have wasted $207.

Plumbing Express is my go-to plumbing support team. They have fair pricing, well-vetted technicians, and a truly exceptional scheduling system. Rod, my technician, was the best. He quickly assessed the problem and gave a fair estimate, working hard to keep to the schedule. He even brought Josh along on the day of service, and the two of them worked well together. They addressed the bathtub drain repair with expertise and caused the least sheetrock damage. It was difficult to replace the broken pipe and get to the upstairs drain, but together they made it a success.

Dylan from Plumbing Express came over and replaced our garbage disposal for us. It was older, had a massive leak, and needed to be replaced. He did a great job and was in and out in about 30 minutes! I also asked him to check out a potential leak I had been hearing in my ceiling. He used a thermal camera to investigate and was very honest and upfront about what he found. Rather than immediately cutting into the drywall to confirm something uncertain, he explained that the sound could simply be pipes expanding and that opening the wall might be unnecessary. He recommended monitoring the area and waiting to see if a wet spot appears, which would clearly indicate an actual leak. I really appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell or push unnecessary work. Overall, great service and a great guy. They will definitely be our go-to plumbing service from now on.

Once again we had some problems under our kitchen sink so we called Plumbing Express who were able to get us on their schedule pretty quickly after these storms Tim Robinson came out to do the job. Tim has been to our house for a number of different plumbing problems. He is personable & professional. As usual he did a great job even though this particular problem turned out to be far more difficult than anyone had expected. As frustrating as it was, Tim worked through it until he finished the job. We can't thank him enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer 24-hour or after-hours emergency plumbing?

We do not offer after-hours dispatch. We operate during regular business hours. If you call after hours, someone will answer and help you shut off your water over the phone. On-site service begins when we open the following business day. For active leaks, turning off the main shutoff is the most important first step — it stops the damage while you wait.

How quickly can you get to me?

We cannot guarantee a specific arrival time, but urgent calls are triaged and prioritized for same-day service based on severity and our current schedule. Call us and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll give you an honest window.

What if I can't find my shutoff valve?

Call us at (678) 439-9540. We can walk you through where to look based on your home’s age, construction type, and meter location. Most Metro Atlanta homes have the shutoff near the water heater or at the meter box. If you genuinely cannot find it, your meter box usually has a shutoff at the street that you or a neighbor can turn with a meter key or an adjustable wrench.

Should I call my insurance company before calling a plumber?

If possible, yes — especially for major events. Many homeowner’s policies have requirements about documentation before repair. That said, stopping active water damage takes priority. Shut off the water first. Then call your insurer while you wait for us. We will document everything on our end.

The leak is from a sewage line, not a water supply line. Can you help?

Sewage and drain line issues are a separate service. Visit our sewer line repair page for the right team.
