How Much Does a Whole-Home Repipe Cost in Metro Atlanta?

Before you call any plumber, you need to understand one thing: not all repipe quotes are measuring the same job.

Two companies can bid the same house at very different prices and both be quoting honestly. The difference is almost never the pipe work. It is what each quote includes after the pipes are done — the drywall, the ceiling texture, the paint. One quote covers all of it. One quote stops at the wall studs and hands you a house you cannot live in.

Knowing that before you compare bids changes every conversation you will have.

This page covers what drives repipe cost, what a complete quote should contain, and how to read one bid against another so the comparison is real. When you are done, you will have what most homeowners do not walk into an estimate with: a clear picture of what fair looks like.

At Plumbing Express, every estimate is free, in-home, and fixed-price. Pipes, drywall repair, and paint blending are all in one number. The price before the job starts is the price on your invoice when it ends.

What Drives the Cost of a Whole-Home Repipe

Three factors account for most of the cost difference between repipe projects. Understanding them helps you read a quote and ask the right questions when comparing bids.

Home Size and Fixture Count

More supply lines mean more pipe, more fittings, and more labor. A three-bathroom home takes meaningfully more work than a two-bathroom home of the same square footage. Fixture count is generally a better predictor of cost than square footage alone. It more directly reflects how many supply lines need to be replaced.

Lower impact: smaller home, fewer bathrooms and fixtures. Higher impact: larger home, more bathrooms, more fixtures.

Layout and Accessibility

Homes with vaulted ceilings or heavily tiled bathrooms take longer to work through carefully. The goal is always to minimize the number of wall openings while still doing the job right. Some layouts require more access points than others.

Lower impact: standard ceiling heights, straightforward routing. Higher impact: vaulted ceilings, tile surrounds, complex layout.

Drywall and Restoration Scope

Every Plumbing Express repipe includes drywall repair and paint blending in the quoted price. The extent of that work affects cost: the number of openings, whether tile is involved, and whether original paint is available for matching.

Lower impact: standard drywall access in typical locations. Higher impact: tile walls, custom finishes, or larger restoration areas.

Plumbing Express replaces polybutylene pipe, aging PEX, copper, and other supply systems throughout Metro Atlanta. The pipe material being replaced has little effect on cost. What moves the number is the size of your home, how your layout is configured, and how much restoration the job requires.

Most Metro Atlanta whole-home repipes fall within a range your estimator can define after seeing your home. A free in-home visit is the only way to give you an accurate number.

What a Plumbing Express Repipe Includes

This is where quotes differ most — not in the pipe work itself, but in what happens after. Many companies quote the plumbing and hand you back a house full of open walls. Plumbing Express includes the complete job in one quoted price.

A note on paint: We blend paint to match the surrounding surfaces at every opening. We do not repaint entire walls or ceilings. In most cases, especially when original paint is available, the match is excellent and you cannot find where the work was done. We can match paint even without original paint codes. If your finish is difficult to match, your estimator will tell you that up front.

“The fact that they handle the entire job — plumbing, drywall repair and painting — means you are only dealing with one contractor.” Mark B., Verified Yelp Review

“They are the only plumbers that perform the whole job.” Norma, Verified Google Review

How to Compare Repipe Quotes Before You Sign

Repipe quotes can look very different even when they cover the same home. The number is often less revealing than what is behind it. Before you compare prices, confirm you are comparing scope.

Ask Each Company A Strong Answer A Warning Sign
Is the quote fixed-price? Yes. The estimate number is the invoice number. Scope changes require your written approval before work begins. “Depends on what we find” or time-and-materials pricing with no ceiling.
Does the quote include drywall repair and paint? Full restoration included from the same crew. Drywall, ceiling texture, and paint blending. “We patch the holes” with no mention of texture or paint, or restoration listed as a separate add-on.
Is it your crew or subcontractors? In-house, W-2 employees handle the full job, plumbing and restoration. One team, one point of accountability. Plumbing done in-house, drywall and paint handed off to a separate crew you will need to schedule.
What pipe material do you install? Uponor PEX-A or FlowGuard Gold CPVC. Both are premium, code-approved materials with manufacturer warranties. PEX-B or unbranded materials. Lower material cost often means lower quality and shorter service life.
Is water restored each evening? Yes. The system is pressure-tested and water is back on before the crew leaves each day. Water off for the full project duration.
What does the warranty cover? Material and labor warranties. Transferable to future owners. Warranty mentioned but not specified, or no labor warranty included.

“I solicited 4 bids for our project. Plumbing Express was the lowest bid and also the ONLY company that quoted a turn-key job, plumbing, drywall repair and finishing and painting.” Jerome H., Verified Google Review

“My usual plumber quoted a price for polybutylene replacement that was nearly five figures and DID NOT include drywall repair or paint. Plumbing Express did the entire job for half that price and from first contact to completion in less than a week.” Mark W., Verified Google Review

The cheapest repipe is rarely the least expensive one. A quote that excludes drywall repair hands you back a project, not a finished home. When the plumber does not handle restoration, you become the general contractor. You find the drywall crew, schedule them, and wait on their availability. That cost in time and money never appears on the original invoice.

What "Fixed-Price" Means at Plumbing Express

“Fixed-price” is used loosely in home services. At Plumbing Express, it means one specific thing: the number on your estimate is the number on your final invoice.

We prevent surprises by doing a thorough in-home assessment before we quote. We use a detailed questionnaire and walk your home with you. We want you to know the cost before work begins, and for that to be the cost at the end of the job.

Some repipe companies give phone quotes without ever visiting your home. The person quoting may be in another state. When the crew arrives, important details that should have been known in advance come up, and the price changes. That does not happen here. Every Plumbing Express quote is based on an actual in-home inspection and consultation.

If you have a quote from another company and want to understand why ours looks different, we are glad to review it with you. Most of the time, the difference comes down to scope, not price.

“Their fair and straightforward pricing saved us thousands compared to the other three bids we received.” Sarah M., Verified Yelp Review

“Their quote was by far the most competitive AND comprehensive of the four I received. If I had to do it again, I’d choose Plumbing Express without a second thought.” Gale H., Marietta, Verified Google and Yelp Review

How Payment Works on a Repipe

Deposit. We collect 50% on the day the job starts.

Final payment. The balance is due when drywall repair, paint blending, and punchout items are finished and the home is fully functional. Any minor touch-up items identified at that point are handled under warranty on a follow-up visit, not held as a condition of final payment.

Financing. We offer financing for qualified customers through a national bank. The process is fast. We send you a web link, you enter your information, and underwriting moves quickly. Ask when you call to schedule, or raise it with your estimator during the in-home visit.

Real estate closings. When a real estate transaction requires it, we can take full payment at closing. We require verification from the closing attorney, and the closing date must be within 30 days of the date the work is completed. See our repipe for home sale guide for the full process.

Repipe Cost in a Real Estate Transaction

Polybutylene pipe is one of the most common findings during home inspections in Metro Atlanta. Copper pinhole leaks appear frequently in Cobb County homes on CCWA water. When either issue comes up during due diligence, buyers and sellers need a fast, credible quote and a realistic timeline.

Plumbing Express works with sellers repiping before listing, buyers requesting a repipe as a condition of closing, and agents who need a documented estimate to support a negotiation. We can work to your closing date, and we can coordinate payment to align with the closing process when the situation calls for it. For the full process, including due diligence estimates and closing payment details, see our repipe for home sale guide.

Plumbing Express was great. I had a failed sump pump that had partially overflowed into the basement. Nasty. Josh was the tech that did the work. He was efficient, neat and courteous. I will use Plumbing Express if I have any other plumbing needs and I will recommend them to my family and friends.

Ron was our second plumber from this company. The first plumber came, examined pipes and said he found no leak, even though we had experiences a large amount of water leaking from the ceiling in the finished basement. Several days later we had another leak-same area but less water the second time. Ron came in, listened to our frustration and did a more thorough inspection of the pipes and identified the problem. He was very personable and professional. On his third visit, we had several replacement pipes installed and are without leaks again. Our frustration, with the situation, was my son had used your company to replace pipes when he purchased the home and founding out not all the pipes were included with that process.

Called Plumbing Express as tankless hot water not operating. Their website states "Get Free Plumbing Quote ". When service man showed up an looked at unit he said there would be a $207 charge to look into unit in order to give me a quote to fix unit. Due to not having hot water and time required to get another company to address the problem I agreed to pay $207 for quote. After looking in unit I was told he would not be able to fix due to age of unit and parts not available. I think he should have said parts not available when seeing model number on front of unit and I would not have wasted $207.

Plumbing Express is my go-to plumbing support team. They have fair pricing, well-vetted technicians, and a truly exceptional scheduling system. Rod, my technician, was the best. He quickly assessed the problem and gave a fair estimate, working hard to keep to the schedule. He even brought Josh along on the day of service, and the two of them worked well together. They addressed the bathtub drain repair with expertise and caused the least sheetrock damage. It was difficult to replace the broken pipe and get to the upstairs drain, but together they made it a success.

Dylan from Plumbing Express came over and replaced our garbage disposal for us. It was older, had a massive leak, and needed to be replaced. He did a great job and was in and out in about 30 minutes! I also asked him to check out a potential leak I had been hearing in my ceiling. He used a thermal camera to investigate and was very honest and upfront about what he found. Rather than immediately cutting into the drywall to confirm something uncertain, he explained that the sound could simply be pipes expanding and that opening the wall might be unnecessary. He recommended monitoring the area and waiting to see if a wet spot appears, which would clearly indicate an actual leak. I really appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell or push unnecessary work. Overall, great service and a great guy. They will definitely be our go-to plumbing service from now on.

Once again we had some problems under our kitchen sink so we called Plumbing Express who were able to get us on their schedule pretty quickly after these storms Tim Robinson came out to do the job. Tim has been to our house for a number of different plumbing problems. He is personable & professional. As usual he did a great job even though this particular problem turned out to be far more difficult than anyone had expected. As frustrating as it was, Tim worked through it until he finished the job. We can't thank him enough.

Frequently Asked Questions About Repipe Cost

What factors affect the cost of a whole-home repipe?

Three factors drive most of the variation: home size and fixture count, layout and accessibility, and the scope of drywall and restoration work required. The pipe material being replaced has little effect on cost. Your estimator reviews all of this during a free in-home visit and builds your quote around your specific home.

Is cost based on square footage or number of bathrooms?

Fixture count is generally a better predictor than square footage alone, because it more directly reflects the number of supply lines being replaced. A large home with two bathrooms may cost less than a smaller home with three bathrooms and a dedicated laundry room. Your estimator looks at both.

Why do repipe quotes vary so much between companies?

Most of the variation comes from scope differences, not price competition. A quote that excludes drywall repair will look cheaper than one that includes it. Factor in what it costs to hire a separate drywall contractor, and the cheaper quote often turns out to be the more expensive one. Compare full-scope quotes before making any decision based on price.

Do you give fixed-price estimates?

Yes. Every Plumbing Express estimate is fixed-price and fully itemized. The number on your quote is the number on your final invoice. We do not add scope during the job without your written approval first.

What is included in your repipe price?

All new supply lines, new shutoff valves, hose bibs, pressure regulator valve, expansion tank, pressure testing, drywall repair at all openings, ceiling texture restoration, paint blending, daily cleanup, and warranty documentation. All of it is in one quoted number.

What causes surprise costs on repipes, and how do you prevent them?

Most surprise costs come from scope that was not in the original quote, usually drywall and paint. Those are standard inclusions at Plumbing Express. We also do a thorough in-home assessment before quoting, so we are not discovering details mid-job that change the price. If something unexpected comes up, we discuss it with you before proceeding.

How long does a whole-home repipe take?

Most Metro Atlanta whole-home repipes follow this pattern: pipe replacement is complete in one day, with water restored to your home that evening. Drywall repair and paint blending take one to three additional days, depending on the number of openings and the complexity of the finish work. Your estimator will walk you through the expected timeline at the in-home visit.

Will the paint match after the drywall is repaired?

In most cases, yes. We blend paint to match the surrounding surfaces at every opening. We do not repaint entire walls or ceilings. When original paint is available, the match is typically excellent and you cannot find where the work was done. We can also match paint without original paint codes. If your finish is unusual or difficult to match, your estimator will tell you that before work begins, not after.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing for qualified customers through a national bank. Ask when you call to schedule, or raise it with your estimator during the in-home visit.

Will a repipe increase the value of my home?

Yes. New plumbing adds real value, especially when you are replacing a known problem system like polybutylene or deteriorated copper. It removes one of the most common inspection flags in Metro Atlanta, which can strengthen your negotiating position and remove a potential deal-killer before you list. The transferable manufacturer warranty and the Plumbing Express workmanship warranty are also meaningful items for buyers, who pay more for certainty than for a price credit on an unresolved problem.

Can repipe cost be coordinated with a real estate closing?

Yes. We can take full payment at closing when the closing attorney provides verification and the closing date is within 30 days of the date the work is completed. We also provide same-day or next-day estimates during due diligence periods, and the quoted price is valid for 30 days. See our repipe for home sale guide for the full process.
