Plumber in McDonough, GA
We provide dependable plumbing services in McDonough, GA, helping homeowners fix leaks, clogs, and repairs quickly and efficiently.
McDonough is the county seat of Henry County, located 28 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta along I-75. The city was founded in 1823, but its real growth happened in the 1990s and 2000s when suburban expansion pushed south from Atlanta. The population has more than doubled since 2000, and most of that growth came in the form of new subdivisions. That means a large share of McDonough’s homes are now 25 to 35 years old, which is the age when original plumbing systems start to break down.
Plumbing Express has served Metro Atlanta since 2007 with over 35 years of combined experience. Our 4.9-star rating backed by 1,999+ reviews tells you what Henry County homeowners already know: we do the job right and stand behind every repair.

Plumbing Problems Common in McDonough Homes
McDonough’s housing stock ranges from historic homes near the Town Square to the massive wave of subdivisions built during the 1990s building boom. Here is what our plumbers find most often in the 30252 and 30253 ZIP codes.
This is the most common issue we see in McDonough. The subdivisions built between 1978 and 1995 across the city were plumbed with polybutylene water lines during construction. This gray plastic pipe reacts with chlorine in Henry County’s treated water and degrades from the inside. Pinhole leaks, cracked fittings, and sudden pipe bursts are common results. Because so many McDonough homes were built in the same era, entire neighborhoods are reaching the failure point at the same time. A full home repipe is the only permanent fix. We specialize in polybutylene replacement and finish most homes in two to three days.
Henry County sits on red clay that expands when wet and contracts during dry periods. That seasonal movement puts stress on water supply lines beneath concrete slab foundations. Ranch-style and two-story homes built on slabs throughout McDonough’s subdivisions are at risk. Warning signs include warm spots on floors, the sound of running water with all fixtures off, and an unexplained jump in your water bill. Our slab leak detection service pinpoints the exact location without tearing up your floors.
Homes built in the 1990s had their original water heaters replaced once already, and those second-generation tanks are now reaching the end of their lifespan too. Sediment buildup reduces heating efficiency, causes rumbling sounds, and shortens tank life to 8 to 10 years in this area. When your unit starts leaking or producing lukewarm water, we install both tank water heaters and tankless systems sized for your household.
McDonough’s established neighborhoods have maturing trees whose root systems seek moisture in sewer and drain lines. Roots enter through hairline cracks or loosened joints, then grow until they block the pipe. Signs include slow drains, gurgling toilets, and sewage odors near cleanouts. We clear roots with hydrojetting and inspect the line with a sewer camera to determine whether sewer line replacement is needed.
The older homes near McDonough’s Town Square, along Macon Street, Jonesboro Street, and Griffin Street may still have original galvanized steel water lines. After decades of service, internal corrosion narrows the pipe, drops water pressure, and produces rusty brown water at the tap. A full repipe with PEX-A or copper piping restores clean water and strong pressure throughout the house.
Grease buildup, mineral deposits, and root intrusion combine to restrict flow in older drain lines. A plunger or store-bought chemical will not solve these problems. Our drain cleaning crew uses hydrojetting to scour the pipe walls and a camera to verify the line is clear.

Repairs and Installations
Our trucks carry common parts so most repairs finish in a single visit. We handle faucet repair, faucet installation, toilet repair, toilet installation, leak repair, leak detection, garbage disposal repair, and water line repair.
A slow kitchen drain or a toilet that backs up after heavy rain points to a deeper blockage. Our drain cleaning team goes beyond basic snaking. Repiping is our specialty. We remove failing polybutylene, galvanized, or aging copper systems and replace them with PEX-A or CPVC. Service couldn’t be completed due to needing a new system. We appreciate the very informative visit as well as insight that could help after a new unit install.
Plumbing Express was great. I had a failed sump pump that had partially overflowed into the basement. Nasty. Josh was the tech that did the work. He was efficient, neat and courteous. I will use Plumbing Express if I have any other plumbing needs and I will recommend them to my family and friends.
The technician was very knowledgeable and professional. I believe they did a very good job.
Ron was our second plumber from this company. The first plumber came, examined pipes and said he found no leak, even though we had experiences a large amount of water leaking from the ceiling in the finished basement. Several days later we had another leak-same area but less water the second time. Ron came in, listened to our frustration and did a more thorough inspection of the pipes and identified the problem. He was very personable and professional. On his third visit, we had several replacement pipes installed and are without leaks again. Our frustration, with the situation, was my son had used your company to replace pipes when he purchased the home and founding out not all the pipes were included with that process.
Tim arrived on time and was very professional. He took his time to explain the problem and the process it would take fix the water line.
Called Plumbing Express as tankless hot water not operating. Their website states "Get Free Plumbing Quote ". When service man showed up an looked at unit he said there would be a $207 charge to look into unit in order to give me a quote to fix unit. Due to not having hot water and time required to get another company to address the problem I agreed to pay $207 for quote. After looking in unit I was told he would not be able to fix due to age of unit and parts not available. I think he should have said parts not available when seeing model number on front of unit and I would not have wasted $207.
Outstanding customer service, we will definitely be using them in the future for any plumbing needs. Can’t thank them enough!
Extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The team was excellent. The job was completed in 1 day with a great team. Very expressive.
Daniel Perez was great in coming out to check the problem I had with a water leak from my air conditioner line. His recommendation was correct.
Great and informative service while I was in a bind without a functioning water heater.
Plumbing Express is my go-to plumbing support team. They have fair pricing, well-vetted technicians, and a truly exceptional scheduling system. Rod, my technician, was the best. He quickly assessed the problem and gave a fair estimate, working hard to keep to the schedule. He even brought Josh along on the day of service, and the two of them worked well together. They addressed the bathtub drain repair with expertise and caused the least sheetrock damage. It was difficult to replace the broken pipe and get to the upstairs drain, but together they made it a success.
Daniel did a great job and was very professional during his service call last week!
Rod and Josh did an awesome job taking care of my clogged sinks. Knowledgable, professional and great to work with - I really appreciated their help today and would highly recommend them and Plumbing Express!
Daniel was excellent. The work he did was simply superb. I highly recommend your company and hopefully Daniel will get more and more work
Dylan from Plumbing Express came over and replaced our garbage disposal for us. It was older, had a massive leak, and needed to be replaced. He did a great job and was in and out in about 30 minutes! I also asked him to check out a potential leak I had been hearing in my ceiling. He used a thermal camera to investigate and was very honest and upfront about what he found. Rather than immediately cutting into the drywall to confirm something uncertain, he explained that the sound could simply be pipes expanding and that opening the wall might be unnecessary. He recommended monitoring the area and waiting to see if a wet spot appears, which would clearly indicate an actual leak. I really appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell or push unnecessary work. Overall, great service and a great guy. They will definitely be our go-to plumbing service from now on.
Once again we had some problems under our kitchen sink so we called Plumbing Express who were able to get us on their schedule pretty quickly after these storms Tim Robinson came out to do the job. Tim has been to our house for a number of different plumbing problems. He is personable & professional. As usual he did a great job even though this particular problem turned out to be far more difficult than anyone had expected. As frustrating as it was, Tim worked through it until he finished the job. We can't thank him enough.
Anthony was very competent, professional and friendly. He answered all my questions throughly. Highly recommend!
Frequently Asked Questions about McDonough Plumbing Services
What are some common plumbing issues in the McDonough area?
Given the mix of housing styles and ages in McDonough, we see a wide range of plumbing issues. In some of the older homes, we often encounter problems with aging pipe materials and sewer line issues caused by tree roots. In newer homes, hard water can sometimes cause issues with fixtures and appliances. Across the board, clogged drains and water heater problems are very common.
What is the difference between a tank and tankless water heater?
A traditional tank water heater stores a large amount of hot water in a tank, keeping it heated and ready for use. A tankless water heater, on the other hand, heats water on demand as you need it. Tankless models are more energy-efficient because they are not constantly heating a tank of water, and they provide an endless supply of hot water. They also have a smaller footprint, which can be a benefit in homes with limited space.
What is hydrojetting and when is it needed?
Hydrojetting is a highly effective method of drain cleaning that uses a high-pressure stream of water to scour the inside of your pipes. It is much more powerful than a traditional drain snake and can remove years of built-up grease, scale, and even tree roots. Hydrojetting is often recommended for stubborn or recurring clogs and as a preventative maintenance measure to keep your pipes flowing freely.
What are the signs of a slab leak?
Signs of a slab leak can be subtle. You might notice a sudden increase in your water bill, the sound of running water when no faucets are on, warm spots on your floor, or unexplained moisture or mildew under your carpets. If you suspect you have a slab leak, it is crucial to call a professional plumber immediately to prevent further damage to your home’s foundation.
Why should I consider repiping my home?
Repiping your home is a major decision, but it can be a necessary one if your existing plumbing system is failing. Older homes with polybutylene or failing copper pipes are at high risk for leaks and water damage. Repiping your home with modern, durable materials like PEX can provide peace of mind, improve your water pressure, and increase the value of your home. It is a long-term solution to persistent plumbing problems.
